Ian Wright was jealous of Leicester City following their FA Cup final win over Chelsea.
But not because Arsenal weren’t able to defend the trophy they won last season.
Wright‘s envy of the Foxes, who won the FA Cup for the first time in their history thanks to a stunning strike from Youri Tielemans, stems from how the club is run by chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
Under his watch, Leicester have won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 campaign – more recently than the Gunners – and the FA Cup is more proof that they are heading in the right direction.
And, presumably, in a sly dig at Stan Kroenke, Wright admits that he is heartbroken to see how Srivaddhanaprabha operates in comparison to the Arsenal owner.
“The jealously I feel knowing that an owner can be like that, honestly it breaks my heart,” Wright said on the BBC.
“Absolutely delighted for Leicester and him.”
The Arsenal legend has been extremely vocal in his criticism of Kroenke in the past month or so and after the European Super League announcement he offered a scathing verdict.
“Absolutely shameful,” Wright wrote on Twitter.
The post was accompanied with a GIF that reads: “Remember who you are, what you are, and who you represent.
“That’s what Arsenal’s about.”

Then after the Super League plans fell through, Wright sent a strong message to Kroenke’s son, Josh, ahead of an Arsenal fans’ planned protest.
“This is what Josh doesn’t understand!!” he wrote.
“We want to play Barcelona but we want to EARN the right to play Barcelona!!!”
